(Please click for larger resolution.)My review of the Li Yundi-SSO debacle in The Straits Times (27 July 2009) has met with several responses: almost unequivocal on a thumbs-down for the Chinese pianist. Although many in the audience "enjoyed" his performance, it is gratifying to note that there are discerning people who can tell they have been short-changed and taken for a ride. Li Yundi's irresponsible outing to the "boondocks" of Singapore (would he have played the same way in London or New York?) must never happen again.
