We have come to yet another outlet of Five Star Dim Sum Restaurant. Having visited the Geylang one, this location is less industrial and more prepossessing, besides its closer to home. It certainly looks more upmarket, and the service is also better. The menu and prices are the same for both the dim sum dishes and zichar items, which is still good value for money.
The air-conditioned dining area, where reservations are essential.
The more spacious "outdoor" area.
Just place your order using the chit, and the kitchen takes care of it. Dishes are served to your table.
There is indoor air-conditioned dining in a fairly cramped space, a there is a more tables in the non-AC area, which is shaded and not too warm if you come in the evening. There is greenery as well, which makes the dining a little more pleasurable. We had just dim sum and the obligatory porridge (Ting Zhai is a particular favourite of the Tans, and we concur!) and got suitably well-filled.
The chee cheong fun goes down very smoothly.
Xiao long bao
Har gao siew mai There's a joke about these which I won't repeat.
Steamed pork ribs
Bean curd skin and prawn in mala sauce.
The ting zhai porridge the Tans love.
Cold drinks to wash it all down
Clementi greenery
