FIFA WORLD CUP 2010: Day 2 (12 June 2010)

SOUTH KOREA 2 - GREECE 0

Missed this match completely, thanks to Joshua Bell and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields. Two uncharacteristic Greek defence lapses were punished by the Koreans, who took those chances well. Although I don't care much for Man U players, I have something for Koreans in general. Good to see Jisung Park score in another World Cup. One more point, and they're as good as through to the next round. Rating: N.A.

ARGENTINA 1 - NIGERIA 0

One thought the floodgates would open after Gabriel Heinze's unstoppable header in the 6th minute. Nigerian goalie Vincent Enyeama kept the score respectable by negating the silky skills of one Lionel Messi. Maradona's charges were good for 3 points, but Nigeria are not out of it. Rating: 3.5/5

ENGLAND 1 - USA 1

If you're an Arsenal fan, you can't possibly support England, a team peopled by thugs, chavs and yobs like Wayne Rooney, John Terry, Steven Gerrard and a gaggle of Spurs players. So it is a massive dose of Schadenfreude that Ingerland blow a 3-minute lead with a Fabianskian howler from goalie Robert Green. Men of the match: Clint Dempsey (scorer) or Giant Onyewu (Wenger should buy him). England flattered to deceive, as usual. Rating: 4/5
