The 12 semi-finalists of the Singapore International Violin Competition have been named yesterday. They are in (alphabetical order):

SIRENA HUANG (USA)
PETTERI IIVONEN (Finland)
CHISA KITAGAWA (Japan)

The Singaporean interest continues as Loh Jun Hong remains the only local left in the competition. Our commiserations go to See Ian Ike and Phang Lijia. The Ukrainian Oleksandr Korniev of Yong Siew Toh Conservatory and former Singapore resident Anna Lee of South Korea are still in contention.

The semi-finals begin on Wednesday (14 January) at 2.30 pm in the Conservatory Concert Hall until the evening of Friday (16 January) when the results will be announced. Tickets are available at SISTIC or at the door.
