FIFA WORLD CUP 2010: 2nd Semi-final (7 July 2010)

Semi-final:
SPAIN 1 - GERMANY 0

The fluid and free-scoring Germany did not turn up for its 11th World Cup semi-final, so it was left for debutants Spain to dictate the pace, and ultimately the final result. In a rather dour match with a particularly soporific first half, Spain was on the attack on the outset, disrupting Germany's previously pretty midfield work in need of the suspended Thomas Mueller. It was Carles Puyol who settled the deadlock, powering a header off a corner kick. Torres would have opened his account and settled the match once and for all, if not for selfish play by Pedro. So Spain makes it to its first Cup final, while Germany should get third place (again) against lucky Uruguay. Rating: 2.5/5
